Is it me or is Will Ferrell overrated. I mean he has his funny moments but otherwise I think he is pretty lame.

funnyordie.com is funny. But it's funny because he's not in most of the skits. But, you are correct, Will Ferrell is overrated.

This shows how hard to really pick a winner in this thing is, of all the players I would have given Ramirez the least chance to win but because he is in it he has a chance. That's why betting this thing is just a fun thing to wager on because otherwise I probably wouldn't even watch it.

I'm down to one now with only Corey Hart alive, also have a NL player winning it so I have to root for Hanley as well.

Stopped watching that Derby half way thru.

Who do you guys got for the game?  And why?

I'd go American League myself, ride the streak till it ends.  foclaugh beer2
No, sir, I have no experience but I'm a big fan of money.  I like it, I use it, I have a little.  I keep it in a jar on top of my refrigerator. I'd like to put more in that jar. That's where you come in.

He was definitely one of the reasons I turned it off, can't stand him.

Wish ESPN never would have renewed his contract.   cry1

Not the right forum for this but I figured it would get some more views in here as well.   cheers88

FOOTBALL OUTSIDERS ALMANAC 2010

Is anyone planning on purchasing this or purchased any of these books in the past?

I was just turned onto these guys last year.  I have heard a lot of good things about The Football Outsiders Almanac book they put out.  Mostly, its an NFL fan must.  I've never read the book though, so I wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts.

For those unaware, its not really a betting guide per say. Its more an in depth look at every football team. With some fantasy implications. Obviously, knowing more about the teams and players will help your gambling.  But I wouldn't classify it as a betting guide.

I think the PDF version can be downloaded for something like $12.  If people would want to split it, I'm sure you can just download it and then attach it in an email to everyone.  Or maybe we can even figure out a way to post it all on TIS.  Not that worried about that right now though.

I was looking for more feedback, since I am thinking of just buying the actual book instead of the PDF.  The book isn't available till July 20th, so I figured I'd get some more reviews of it in the mean time.

I just want to know if anyone has read any of these in the past. Any feedback would be much appreciated.  Thanks beer2

I'd be interested. I know they have some very interesting stats they come up with and use for analysis. Wasn't it them that came up with the Hog Index?

Not sure about the Hog Index thing.  Maybe they renamed it.

I know their main thing is DVOA (Defense-adjusted Value Over Average)

DVOA breaks down every single play of the NFL season to see how much success offensive players achieved in each specific situation compared to the league average in that situation, adjusted for the strength of the opponent.

The NFL determines the best players by adding up all their yards no matter what situations they came in or how many plays it took to get them. Now why would they do that? Football has one objective-to get to the end zone-and two ways to achieve that, by gaining yards and getting first downs. These two goals need to be balanced to determine a player's value or a team's performance. All the yards in the world aren't useful if they all come in eight-yard chunks on third-and-10.

You can read everything about them at
