ANALYSIS

Michael Vick is not going to play today for the Eagles.

There has been a little of an over reaction to this as the line has moved to 5 ˝ points after opening at 3. With or withtut Vick, the Eagles will score against the Giants.

Here is the reason: The Giants defense is not that good. They are ranked 17th overall and 20 against the rush and 17th against the pass.

What does this mean. You are going to see a lot of running back LeSean McCoy. He is the real focal point of the Eagles offense. He leads the league with 12 touchdowns and has 906 yards rushing.

The Eagles will turn to Vince Young at quartlerback. That is the wild card here. Depending on how Young plays will determine how well the Eagles perform. They do not need him to be the star, just manage the game. I like the fact he has had the full week of practice as the starter to get ready for this game. He will have DeSean Jackson back in the lineup after being benched last week. That will help. His speed on the outside is too much for the G-men to handle.

With McCoy, the Eagles have the top rushing game in the league. The Eagles average 172 yards rushing and 247 passing yards. If they try to load up the line of scrimmage to stop McCoy, Jackson will be open deep.

For the Giants, Eli Manning has thrown four TDs and had a 100-plus passer rating in last two games vs. Philadelphia. He will need to have a good game. The Giants’ running game is non-existent. They average 89 yards rushing a game and 282 yards passing. They need to have a good game from Manning.

To attack the Eagles, you need a strong, between-the-tackles runndng game. The Giants do not have that.

The Giants won the first meeting, 29-16. But, the Eagles won the previous four meetings between this team.

The Eagles are desperate and will bring everything they have to this game. Getting points in always nice when you expect this to be a close game.
