OC DOOLEY

“2 UNIT” NATIONAL-TV LATE NIGHT COLLEGE TOTAL (Kentucky at Georgia OVER 130’ in a 9:05 eastern tipoff on ESPN): The key to this pick surrounds the most recent outing by Kentucky where 6 different players scored in “double digits”, which makes the first time this school has achieved that feat since way back in the 2004-2005 campaign. Tonight’s total has been low-balled since the Georgia offense is averaging a conference-low shooting percentage (39.9 %) which has created plenty of value with this over/under figure. I will admit that Georgia is missing the combination of Trey Thomkins and Travis Leslie (both now in the NBA) who put a combined 40 points per game on the scoreboard a year ago. But the Bulldogs have an emerging star in freshman guard Kentarious Caldwell-Pope who is averaging near 15 points per game and back on Saturday nailed 5 different “three pointers” from behind the arc. The big news is that Caldwell-Pope was originally recruited by the same Kentucky contingent that he is facing tonight. The last time these two teams met in the state of Georgia, a combined 144 points were put on the scoreboard in a game that soared OVER the closing total of 137’ points. For whatever reason in the past three years Georgia is a resounding 16-4 OVER the spot with their current head coach, when taking the court in the month of JANUARY
